This exhibition brings together a collection of works of art from the Mariano Yera Collection of the Fundaçio de Jueventude, Palacio das Artes de Oporto. It aims to showcase work by the Spanish masters from the second half of the 20th century outside our borders.
AC/E is supporting the guest curator invited by the Guillermo Mora Foundation to join the team of curators, which will also include Lucía Ybarra Aznar and Rosina Gómez-Baeza Tinturé.
The Mariano Yera Collection began in 1999, and centres on contemporary Spanish painting in the second half of the 20th century through to current times. It covers over half a century of Spanish pictorial history through around 150 paintings by 63 different artists. The Collection includes representative work by Tàpies and Ponç, who were pioneers in postwar plastic renovation, passing through the “El Paso” group with Saura, Millares, Feíto, Rivera and Viola, “Equipo 57”, “Equipo Crónica” and “Equipo Realidad”, and artists of a standing such as Gordillo, Alcolea, Pérez Villalta, Barceló, Sicilia or Campano, among others, and younger artists such as Ángela de la Cruz.
Some twenty-five pieces of work have been selected from the Collection for this exhibition, as representative pieces by the Spanish masters spanning the second half of the 20th century.
Parallel to this, meetings with collectors, museums and art centres and galleries from both countries are scheduled.
