NewFest, New York’s LGBT Film Festival, is dedicated to bringing together filmmakers and audiences to build a community that passionately supports LGBT cinema and storytelling. They give voice and visibility to all facets of the LGBTQ experience as New York’s annual LGBT Film Festival every October, which began in 1988. They are committed to nurturing emerging LGBT filmmakers and support those artists who are willing to take risks telling the stories that reflect the diversity of their lives.
This year NewFest celebrates its 30th year in bringing queer film from around the world to NYC NewFest gives voice and visibility to the full spectrum of the LGBTQ experience by championing films, supporting storytellers, and engaging audiences in order to inspire dialogue, shift cultural bias and empower our diverse community. NewFest is New York’s largest presenter of LGBTQ film and media. Through year-round screenings, programs, partnerships, and events, NewFest has grown to become New York’s largest convener of LGBTQ audiences in the city.
