NBO Litfest 2024

Hay Festival, co-organizes, together with Book Bunk, the edition of NBO LITFEST2024 in Nairobi, which will be held from June 27 to 30 and has the participation of the Basque-French journalist, poet and bertsolar Amets Arzallus Antia, with the support of AC/E . 

Amets Arzallus Antia is a journalist by training, a bertsolari since childhood. He lives professionally from oral improvisation since he was 16 years old and in 2013 he won the national bertsolaris championship, in a final before 15,000 spectators. Since 2018 he has volunteered in the Irungo Harrera Sarea association (Irún Reception Network) where they welcome and guide migrants. There his path crossed with that of Ibrahima Balde, a Guinean migrant, and together they wrote their first book that tells Ibrahima's story. A book written by four hands, originally in Basque, “Hermanito: Miñan” (Blackie Books, 2021), which has been translated into more than ten languages. 

The NBO Litfest was created by Book Bunk in 2021, quickly becoming a prominent event on the international literary scene of the African continent. Through its association with the HAY FESTIVAL it has become an annual event with a wide potential audience that promotes free expression and international cultural exchange.
