El Mundial Poético de Montevideo is a biannual project scheduled to begin in 2013 and organised as part of the official activities of the Ibero-American Capital of Culture 2013. The event is aimed at making the city a worldwide reference point for poetry, in order to encourage reading and the production of written, visual, performance and musical poetry. The activities will take place in at least ten venues around Montevideo, decentralising and creating poetry circuits in the city.
