TENT is a contemporary art space directed by Mariette Dölle, who is committed to supporting artists who create open and discussion-based connections between otherwise disparate fields and communities. It has run projects featuring a long list of artists established in the Netherlands such as Wendelien van Oldenborgh, Meschac Gaba, Katarina Zdjelar, Lara Almarcegui, Libia Castro & Olafur Olaffson, Priscila Fernandes and David Maroto.
The Motion /Labour /Machinery project, curated by Spaniard Manuel Segade in cooperation with TENT’s artistic director Mariette Dölle and curator Jesse van Oosten, sets out to explore speculative avenues for critical reflection on ways of thinking about work and contemporary society at both micro and macro level. The artists taking part in the exhibition (Mercedes Azpilicueta, Doris Denekamp and Geert van Mil, Carme Nogueira, Charlotte Schleiffert, Anna Maria Łuczak, Fotini Gouseti, Fran Meana, Marc Roig Blesa and Rogier Delfos) struggle with the contradictions and prejudices we face nowadays when we think about and attempt to represent the relationship between work and leisure, worktime and free time, and the many transitions between the two fundamental states of human existence.
The participation of the artists and the Spanish curator is supported by AC/E’s Programme for the Internationalisation of Spanish Culture.
