Sao Paulo International Film Festival is the longest standing international festival in Brazil and one of the most important in Latin America. It is internationally renowned for its excellent programme and for discovering new talents through its competition for first- and second-time directors of feature-length films. The festival has been held interruptedly for 38 years and has been responsible for bringing a broad variety of films to the country. The films of Wim Wenders, Pedro Almodóvar, Quentin Tarantino, Abbas Kiarostami, Amos Gitai, Tsai Ming Liang, Apichatpong Weerasethakul and many other masters of world cinema were shown in Latin America for the first time as part of the programme of the Sao Paulo festival.
In addition to screening more than 350 feature-length films, the festival also features a packed programme of side events including exhibitions, book launches and films accompanied by live music, among others. AC/E is supporting the participation of Spanish filmmakers Luis Miñarro, Álvaro Ogalla, Fernando León de Aranoa and Patricia de Muns, who will present their latest projects.
