Momentum is a contemporary art biennial organised in Moss (Norway) with Nordic and international focus. With its first edition in 1998, Momentum is the most established biennial in the Nordic countries and has been presenting important works from international artists affecting on the programming of Nordic institutions. The curators from the first edition were Daniel Birnbaum, Lars Bang Larsen and Atle Gerhadsen. The Spanish curator -based in Sweden- Marti Manen is the curator of Momentum10.
Momentum10 looks at historical situations from the biennial itself and presents productions of new artists. The main focus is related to an emotional perception of reality, with the biennial as a time and place to feel with art. A 30% of the works are recovered from Momentum’s history (with artists such Olafur Eliasson or Saskia Holmkvist) and new productions placed in dialogue (for example with the Spanish artists Regina de Miguel, Francesc Ruiz and Pepo Salazar).
