Mes de Danza. Edición 21: Trashumancia

Dance Month in Seville is a classic dance festival and this year’s event, the 21st, will be based on a protest theme, “Trashumancia” (Transhumance), which refers to “the harsh conditions of creation in the world of dance, where professionals have to go where there is a niche for their art”. In accordance with this idea, this year’s festival has developed in a very eclectic direction in order to provide a varied and renewed vision of contemporary dance, encouraging the presence of national and foreign programmers and catering to its audiences but also seeking new viewers in an attempt to achieve greater visibility for the sector.

In 2014 the festival’s programme is shorter but more intense, featuring 20 companies that perform throughout 11 days and at 21 different venues. The international programmer Annie Bozzini, director of the Centre de Développement Chorégraphique Toulouse Midi-Pyrénées and of the C´est de la Danse Contemporaine Festival, is taking part in this year’s festival thanks to the support of the PICE programme of visitor grants.
