This Festival is a fundamental sample of development and exchange in the film and audiovisual arts industry and is a must for directors, actors, producers, distributors and film lovers. The 33rd edition will be held between 10th and 17th November, and is supported by AC/E through support for Mobility grants by PICE, defraying the travelling expenses of the Spanish film-makers Isaki Lacuesta, Elena López Riera and Elías Leon Siminiani so that they are able to present their most recent work at the festival.
Isaki Lacuesta will be presenting his film "Entre dos aguas” (Between Two Waters) in the international competition, and three showings of the film before the Argentine public in the Auditorium Theatre.
Elena Lopez Riera will be presenting "Los que desean” (Those Who Desire). This documentary was awarded the Golden Leopard at the 71st edition of the Locarno Festival, and is inspired by the rites of the people of Orihuela.
The Director Elías Leon Siminiani will be presenting his latest work “Apuntes para un película de atracos” (Notes For a Robbery Film), a documentary, based on a true story. The Director will be with the public during the showing of the films to be able to chat with them and reply to any questions while sharing his experiences.
Organised by the National Cinema and Audiovisual Arts Institute, the Mar del Plata International Film Festival shares “Class A” category with Cannes, Berlin, Venice and San Sebastian, awarded by FIAPF, becoming the only Festival in this category in Latin America and the most important in its genre in all of South America. The President at this edition is José Martínez Suárez, and his new artistic director, Cecilia Barrionuevo.
