Madrid Music City is a complete, open cultural event that is aimed at reaching all corners of the Spanish capital in order to steep it in a rhythm that is accessible to everyone. This week-long cultural celebration brings music to both children and adults and to fans of all styles. Located all over the city, the cultural festival has its epicentre in the Matadero art centre in Madrid.
AC/E is collaborating with this edition through the Visitor grants by supporting the participation of international sector professionals in the Mad Music Cities Fórum and Jornadas de Encuentro de la Industria Musical.
According to UNESCO, Cities of Music are places which have succeeded in bringing about a socioeconomic change that is fundamental to their development through the music industries, which have an impact on our environment by improving both their inhabitants’ lives and the territory in general. Originating in the United States, England and Australia, they create trends, opportunities, business and education in the field of music. Now Madrid wants to qualify as a city of this kind, and for this purpose we wish to give impetus to the city’s music industry by creating jobs and a positive impact on social development, city planning and education. The role of the music industry in improvements and planning in a city like Madrid will be debated and reflected on at this forum, in which representatives of the main Cities of Music will take part along with experts and consultants from the world music industry.
Madrid Music City brings the general public closer to music creators in order to establish direct, open communication between music artists and fans. The meetings will discuss matters related to music creation and the role of constant digitisation in the dissemination of music.
