Madrid Abierto is a programme focused on the production of artistic interventions in the public space. With an open call for international artists, seven editions have been held over a ten-year period.
On the basis of the varied material produced, which has been incorporated into an archive installed in Matadero Madrid, exhibitions and debates are being held such as those scheduled for Lisbon in connection with the Mostra Espanha 2015, an event for exchanging experiences between projects, artists and anyone interested in contemporary art from a critical approach to the social, political and cultural environment.
Interventions by Spaniards Diana Larrea, Iñaki Larrimbe, Noaz and the Democracia y Todo Por la Praxis groups are brought face-to-face with those of Portuguese artists who work in the field of public art, new cultural projects associated with the urban environment, and collaborative practices.
The exhibition venue will show other projects such as those of L. Bonvin, S. Grennan/C. Sperandio, W. Weileder, and T. Yamaguchi/M. and K.Portilla-Kawamura/A. Ganjavian, together with a variety of documentation on the rest of the projects produced and pieces from the audio-visual and sound art sections.
