Concert of "Lunaris", a musical programme created by spanish violinist Jorge Jimenez and german recorder player Anna Stegmann in the Summer Series of the Melbourne Recital Centre.
Our view of the moon is transfigured. Always present in the sky yet out of reach in the distance, it has been captivating mankind for centuries. In LUNARIS, recorder player Anna Stegmann and violinist Jorge Jimenez perform four sets around the different mythical phases of the moon. With various recorders, medieval vielle and baroque violin and electronic soundscapes created by Jorge Jimenez for the occasion, they take the audience on a journey in which early mediaeval music effortlessly blends with compositions from the last decades.
The Melbourne Recital Centre's Summer Programming explores acts which are ‘a bit different’ like world, fusion, unexpected re-interpretations, semi-cabaret, creative use of the space, etc, whilst still being of excellent artistic quality. Intriguing and wonderful events that would appeal to an engaged audience on a balmy summer’s night.
