Lowland de Roser López

Lowland de Roser López

The Spanish choreographer Roser López is presenting her work Lowland at the Korzo Theater in The Hague as part of its monthly “All there is” cycle with the support of the PICE mobility grants. The Korzo Theater is one of the most important contemporary dance centres in the Netherlands, which hosts two biannual dance festivals, CaDance and Holland Dance Festival. Korzo is also the oldest dance production company in the Netherlands. With “All there is”, the Korzo Theater aims to incorporate foreign independent choreographers into its programme, by inviting them to present their work to Dutch audiences.

Roser López’s piece is the result of joint work with the dancer and choreographer Guy Nader, and is co-produced by L'Escenia en Elclimamola and Mercat de les Flors in Barcelona. Lowland seeks a return to the animal nature of the body and of movement, to learning, effort, tenacity and resistance, to beauty, the spirit of improvement and the spirit of freedom. Should we leave or put down roots? Lowland is the landscape and the journey of each one of us. We can only fly with our body, and ingeniousness and imagination are needed to gain wings. An imaginary spectacle on the world of birds and men, full of light and vitality.
