LIMA INDEPENDIENTE is the most important event in Peru devoted to disseminating and discussing contemporary independent films. It sets out to promote knowledge of contemporary and cutting-edge Peruvian and foreign audiovisual productions in order to boost Peru’s position in the region and establish dialogue and debate between audiences and filmmakers through talks, seminars and discussion boards.
This sixth edition of the festival will run from 30 June to 9 July in four Peruvian cities and at various venues in Lima, placing the emphasis on a type of film considered to be largely inaccessible to the general public (auteur and experimental films) in order to foster the exchange of opinions and projects that do not generally attract much attention in mainstream theatres or the media.
The festival also establishes dialogue and debate with audiences through talks, seminars and discussion boards. It focuses on promoting the exchange of experiences between Peruvian and foreign directors by holding workshops and seminars to help younger filmmakers draw inspiration from internationally acclaimed directors.
