LECTURES AND SEMINARS GIVEN BY VALERIE MILES AT THE UNIVERSITY OF BUCHAREST

Univers Publishing House and the University of Bucharest, with the collaboration of Valerie Miles, are organising this lecture to launch her book A Thousand Forests in One Acorn in the country.

Valerie Miles (New York, 1963) is an editor, writer, professor and scholar of the work of the writer Roberto Bolaño and co-founder of the Granta managzine in Spanish. In 2013 the Fundación El Libro in Argentina elected her as one of ‘the most influential professionals’ in the world of books.

A Thousand Forests in One Acorn (published in Spanish as Mil bosques en una bellota by Duomo Ediciones, Barcelona) is an anthology of 28 writers in Spanish, among them Alfredo Bryce Echenique, Horacio Castellanos Moya, Rafael Chirbes, Carlos Fuentes, Juan Goytisolo, Javier Marías, Ricardo Piglia, Evelio Rosero, Alberto Ruy Sánchez, Rafael Sánchez Ferlosio, Esther Tusquets, Hebe Uhart, Mario Vargas Llosa, Aurora Venturini and Enrique Vila-Matas, who discuss with the author their literary influences and career and choose their favourite pages of their own works that best convey their aesthetic concerns.
