Las heridas del viento by Spanish playwright Juan Carlos Rubio had its world premiere in a production of the Hispanic Theater Guild performed at Teatro 8 in Miami in January 2005. The production travelled to Off Broadway in New York that March at the invitation of Retablo Theater and was nominated for five awards by the city’s theatre critics association. The same production visited Spain several times between 2006 and 2008, touring 40 cities. Since then it has been performed in a host of countries, enjoying great success among critics and audiences alike.
After this triumphal spate of foreign productions, the play is being staged again only with a Spanish team and directed by the author himself for the first time. After running for 15 months at the Teatro Lara in Madrid and touring the whole of Spain, as well as the Institutos Cervantes in London and Dublin, this production is being shown for the first time in New York with the support of AC/E’s Mobility Programme.
