La Paz International Book Fair 2018 aims to disseminate and promote children's and young adult literature, seeking to create strategies for encouraging reading by bringing authors and illustrators to the readers (children and young people) and their intermediaries: reading promoters, educators, primary school teachers and researchers.
The Bolivian Academy of Children's and Young Adult literature, within the framework of the city's nomination as "Latin American Capital of Culture 2018" and as part of its activities, has invited the writer Ricardo Alcántara to present his work to the Bolivian public with AC/E as sponsor. He is part of a programme devised by the Academy each year and which includes talks and seminars open to the public with the aim of strengthening and encouraging relations between readers/ reading promoters and children's and young adult literature authors.
Ricardo Alcántara was born in Montevideo (Uruguay), although he has lived in Barcelona for many years. He has published 200 books, all written for children and young people, and many of his works have won prestigious prizes such as the Lazarillo, Serra d'Or, Apel.les Mestres, Espasa Calpe, White Raven awards.
