LA OLA is a showcase of the best independent cinema from Spain in Los Angeles, New York and Mexico City. The Spanish filmmaking scene has emerged as one of the most fertile and successful in Europe with a new generation of young Spanish filmmakers who are being acclaimed at prestigious international film festivals such as Locarno, Berlin, Rotterdam and Cannes. LA OLA aims to create a bridge among countries and give exposure, distribution and business opportunities to all these extraordinary films.
For its fourth year, LA OLA goes international. Thanks to a collaboration with the historic Cineteca Nacional and El Centro Cultural de España en México LA OLA is bringing its programming to Ciudad de México– while maintaining its Los Angeles and New York editions. In addition to screenings, LA OLA’s program offers other activities such as Q&As, music performances, industry panels and master classes.
LA OLA is an international showcase of the most innovative independent films from Spain. Thanks to AC/E support, the films "Julia Ist" by Elena Martín, "The Sea Stares at us from afar" by Manuel Muñoz Rivas and "Niñato" by Adrian Orr will screen in some of the most prestigious cinematic venues of Los Angeles, NY and CDMX such as the Egyptian Theater and The Film Anthology and the Cineteca Nacional where the filmmakers will meet with the vibrant audiences of such historic venues. Each screening will be preceded by a short film curated by Curtocircuito International Film Festival.
