L’Alternativa is a festival that provides a unique opportunity to enjoy screenings and cinema-related activities in support of filmmakers’ creative independence, diversity, innovation, commitment and reflection. It has two competition sections, as well as featuring tributes, premieres, performances, Spanish films and a programme for families. It also offers masterclasses, roundtables, symposia, workshops for children and adults, and film school activities. For professionals, there is the 7th professional and advisory session on which AC/E is collaborating by supporting the participation of international sector professionals.
This edition features a competition for international feature-length and short films, a retrospective on Maurice Pialat and sections devoted to expanded cinema and innovative and emerging Spanish films, as well as family film sessions. It is also holding several creative workshops for children and adults, together with debates on tourism, online film magazines, production, distribution and exhibition, the social return of films and new audiovisual policies aimed at students, professionals and the public.
