The Scan Art Residency is an annual programme that allows a non UK resident Spanish Artist to work in London for 6 week ( August 1st to September 15th). The work produced during the residency will be exhibited in the SCAN project room at the end of the residency period.
The project will allow the artist to produce the work whilst in London, and introduce it to the british critic and public.
Julia Spínola was born in 1979 in Madrid, where she lives and works. She has received many grants and awards such as Beca de Artes Plásticas Marcelino Botín and Premio El Ojo Crítico de Artes Plásticas de Radio Nacional de España, both in 2013; Generaciones 2013, Fundación Montemadrid and the Premio ARCO 2017 de la Comunidad de Madrid. The artist selected for this first edition is Julia Spinola (Madrid 1979), in recognition of an exceptional career and success in Spain and as a commitment to the internalization of her work. The residence will culminate with an exhibition of the work done during the period in the SCAN Project Room.
The opening will be held on the 7th of September 2017, from 18:00 to 21:00 at the SCAN Project Room, 13-19 Herald Street, London E2 6JT.
