The "Days of Jewish Music" Festival presents the wide range of Jewish music at its annual festival, with concerts by local (Israeli) performers and performers from abroad. The festival is planned and organized by the "Treasures of Jewish Music" Association in Israel.
The 5th annual festival, scheduled for 28 February 2017 to 2 March 2017, will include, with AC/E's support, a concert by the Spanish, Madrid-based, music ensemble, Le Tendre Amour. The ensemble will be performing the recently-discovered oratorio "Esther", composed by the 18th century composer C.J.Lidarti. The oratorio tells the story of the Jewish Queen Esther, the wife of the Persian Emperor Ahasuerus. Ahasuerus appointed Haman as his Grand Vizier, who asked the emperor's permission to kill all the Jewish people in the Persian Empire, because "they are different from all other people's in the Empire and do not adhere to the Emperor's laws". Queen Esther succeeded in thwarting Haman's plan and brought about his downfall. The story appears in the Old Testament Book of Esther, which is read in synagogues every year on the Jewish Festival of Purim.
