The documentary “Música en las manos” by the film-maker Cristina Otero, dedicated to the Zamora born orchestra conductor Jesús López-Cobos, will see its premiere in the Doc España section at Seminci in Valladolid.
The documentary is a compilation of the travels and conversations between Otero and the Maestro from 2011 through to May 2017, passing through cities such as Madrid, Toro (where he was born), Lausanne, Berlin and Vienna, and starts with the rehearsals he conducted with the “Joven Orquesta Nacional de España” (National Youth Orchestra of Spain), on a tour dedicated to Beethoven.
In the Director’s words “Cobos emphasised teaching music from an early age, not to make professionals out of them, but to make them better people”. The documentary highlights how López-Cobos, throughout his life, encouraged children, youths and adults to open their lives up to music, which he saw as something not only artistic, but something human, that he always managed to instil in the members of his orchestras.
