The JamesonNotodofilmfest international short film festival is an initiative of La Fábrica that started out in 2001 based on an original idea of filmmaker Javier Fesser (El milagro de P. Tinto, Camino). Since then, throughout its 12 years of life, its pacesetting online competition has helped promote and provide support to young filmmakers. A worldwide audience of more than 36 million people has viewed the more than 11,000 short films entered throughout its history.
Well-established and reputed national directors such as Daniel Sánchez Arévalo (Primos, La gran familia española), Nacho Vigalondo (Los cronocrímenes, Open Windows), Rodrigo Cortés (Buried, Luces Rojas), and Carlos Vermut (Diamond Flash) took the first steps in their film careers at JamesonNotodofimfest, where they were evaluated and awarded prizes by a jury that has judged entries from a hundred or so great names in the film world such as Álex de la Iglesia, Alejandro Amenábar, Fernando Trueba, Bigas Lunas, Guillermo del Toro, Terry Gilliam, Isabel Coixet and Juan José Campanella, among many others.
For the second year running, the festival is stepping out of the screen to organise JamesonNotodofilmfest Weekend, a get-together and exchange of ideas between filmmakers and film lovers that will take place in Cineteca Matadero in Madrid from 13 to 16 June 2014. It features a marathon of activities, including screenings, workshops and a professional market in which 30 guest filmmakers and professionals from the film industry took part last year as guests, such as producers, distributors, heads of fiction from television companies, directors and critics, along with 115 participants and 1,400 spectators.
In order to make the work of Spanish short filmmakers known beyond our borders, thanks to the support of Acción Cultural Española, Ailton Franco Jr., director of the Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival, Curta Cinema (Brazil), will be taking part in JamesonNotodofilmfest Weekend, where he will view the work of talented young filmmakers and provide career guidance.
