The Irudika Residency Program was created to promote artistic creation and international cultural exchange in the field of illustration and graphic animation. A professional jury selected two artists, an illustrator and a graphic animator, to participate in a two-and-a-half-month residency. The authors chosen for this edition were Harriet Lenneman, in the illustration category, and Tania Manzanal, in the graphic animation category. AC/E supported the latter.
For two and a half months, the artists carried out residencies in various spaces, with stays at three creative centers: La Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l’image in Angoulême (France), the Casa del Autor in Zapopan (Mexico), and a final phase in Bilbao, where they produced their final pieces thanks to access to various creative workshops: printmaking, media lab, sculpture, etc. The Irudika Residencies conclude in May with the exhibition of the completed project at the Casa del Cordón in Vitoria-Gasteiz in collaboration with Vital Fundazioa.
During the residency, each artist develops a personal project that becomes the image of Irudika 2025 or the animation for the fair's promotional clip.
