In accordance with one of its lines of action – internationalising Spain’s culture sector – AC/E has devised a specific programme for boosting the presence of Spanish playwrights in Brazil through the translation of works, in order to make them known and encourage foreign companies to stage them.
A committee of performing arts experts selected the works based on the following criteria:
1. Works written in the twenty-first century by living contemporary authors who have been awarded at least one playwriting prize throughout their professional career.
2. The works must be suitable for staging and must address a general or universal theme that can used to bring Spanish authors closer to an audience with scant knowledge of Spanish contemporary playwriting.
The committee selected ten works for the Internationalisation of Spanish Contemporary Authors, which will be performed in Brazil during 2015/2016:
