Interludes (Entremeses)

Interludes (Entremeses)

This play directed by José Luis Gómez is being presented at the Theater an der Ruhr following a successful tour of Spain. Interludes / Entremeses is one of the first shows to be deeply engrained on the memory of the Teatro La Abadía and of Madrid audiences, and is the result of a long process of training and research with a group of young actors, all highly coveted by public and private theatres, cinema and television.

To mark its 20th anniversary, La Abadía staged this play based on Cervantes’s  Entremeses  (trans. Interludes) –La cueva de Salamanca (The Cave of Salamanca)El viejo celoso (The Jealous Old Man) and El retablo de las maravillas (The Tableau of Marvels) – and performed by a group of actors that includes several members of the original cast. With sets by the late painter José Hernández, lighting by Juan Gómez Cornejo, music by Luis Delgado and José Luis Gómez as director, the popular charm and force of Cervantes’s writings come to life in these three famous comic stories set in a rural environment.
