I Never Read, Art Book Fair Basel is an art publishing fair taking place in June parallel to Art Basel, one of the most important and international renowned event in contemporary art. It focuses on printed matter, gathering national and international, institutional and independent publishers. It´s a platform dedicated to explore the relationship between text, performance, art production and the book. The fair is accompanied by a radio station for audio contributions, performances, lectures.
AC/E supports the participation of the Spanish artist Gorka Eizagirre to realize an artistic display and exhibition architecture and design in collaboration with art students of the Art Institute at the Academy of Art and Design FHNW in Basel, Switzerland. The collaboration is a pilot project to be followed by further presentations, namely at the Frankfurt Book Fair in autumn.
Gorka Eizagirre thinks, designs and realizes together with fine art students from Basel (Art Institute at the Academy of Art and Design) a large scale installation that is both – exhibition architecture and display as well as site specific sculpture. As artistic intervention it will ad an unexpected, yet to be discovered body to the fairs’ specific appearance at the intersection between sculptural figure, stage and bookshelf.
