Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA) in Zimbabwe is possibly the country’s greatest cultural event and one of the eight biggest festivals in the whole of Africa. It provides a platform for promotion and an important forum for exchanges between artists of different countries, fostering the establishment of networks and artistic development and helping create jobs in the cultural industries. The festival is notable for its wide audience and influence on the arts and culture in Africa.
With the support of AC/E through its mobility awards, HIFA has invited the Galician group ACadaCanto, which apart from performing its concerts, is taking part in the international meeting of musicians. ACadaCanto brings together four great names in Galician music; Guadi Galego, Xabier Díaz, Guillerme Fernández and Xosé Lois Romero, who also belonged to the music groups Nordestinas, Espido, Berrogüetto and Nova Galega de Danza.
HIFA has scheduled a packed programme of music, dance, plays, circus, street performances, spoken word, visual arts, crafts, applied arts and workshops, featuring more than 200 performances over a 6-day period.
