Heartland International Film Festival 2016

Heartland International Film Festival 2016

The Heartland Film Festival has earned the special designation of being a qualifying festival for the Annual Academy Awards® within the Short Films category. This means that the winner of the Grand Prize for Best Narrative Short Film will qualify for consideration in the Short Films category of the Annual Academy Awards® without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.

The mission of Heartland Film is to inspire filmmakers and audiences through the transformative power of film. We embrace the world, bringing films and filmmakers from around the globe to Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, to honor, share and celebrate film. Since 1991, we have championed national and international independent films, providing a high quality, interactive experience for audiences and filmmakers throughout the year.

AC/E supports the presentation in this 25th edition in the Festival of "The Resurrection Club" A Short Film Documentary produced by la Claqueta and Tal y Cual.
This Short Film tells the real story of  four friends, Ron, Shujaa, Greg, Albert, that were sentenced to death for a crime they did not commit. They spent years in prison. They revived the day he pleaded not guilty and were released. This is the story of four friends. Of their individual and collective struggle. The battle of four exonerated who wanted to end the death penalty. And also the story of their wives, sisters, daughters ... Of the women who stood beside him. A tale of friendship and love. A trip through the United States, from Texas to Washington, to finish with a inhuman and unjust system.
