Händel Festival Halle

Händel Festival Halle

The Händel Festival Halle is an international music festival that is held every year in central Germany with concerts in the historic parts of George Friedrich Handel’s native city, Halle. This festival has been taking place in Halle since 1922. It all began with new productions of Handel’s operas, which are currently the centrepiece of this festival.

Every year the festival’s international audience is offered new pieces, rediscoveries and a variety of styles of performance, many held in Halle’s historic buildings such as the cathedral, St Mark’s church, Handel’s House and the Goethe theatre in Bad Lauchstädt.

AC/E is collaborating with the Händel Festival in 2014 by supporting the participation of the Spanish group Accademia del Piaccere, whose programme entitled Las idas y las vueltas: músicas mestizas (Comings and Goings: Mestizo Music) consists of a dialogue between Flamenco – represented by the singer Arcangel – and Baroque music of the Spanish colonial period, with Fahmi Alqhaias musical director.
