Since 2007, the municipalities of Gois in Portugal and Oroso in Galicia, through a twinning project, have been hosting a number of activities, prominent among which is the international festival GoisOrosoArte, which spans various areas of art: painting, sculpture, photography, music, dance and theatre. The PICE programme run by Acción Cultural Española is facilitating the participation of the Harmonía del Parnás group directed by Marian Rosa Montagut in this year’s event.
The Harmonia del Parnàs group is specialised in performing pieces dating from pre-1800 with historical instruments and criteria, respecting the particular aesthetic and theoretic features of each specific place and period. Its repertoire, chosen from musicological research into musical and documentary sources held in archives and libraries all over the world, encompasses different Spanish genres and composers from the 15th to the 18th centuries, and its performances are the result of a studied exercise in striking a balance between historical musicology and musical creativity.
