Giving Voice Festival 2016 Breslavia

Giving Voice Festival 2016 Breslavia

This year’s Giving Voice Festival is part of the VoicEncounters project held at the Grotowski Institute from 14 to 24 April. This event is focused on research on innovation and deepening knowledge of voice techniques. Organised by the Centre for Performance Research CPR in the Polish city of Breslavia, it is part of the 2016 European Capital of Culture events. The programme offers opportunities for major exchanges between artists from all over the world.

With the collaboration of Acción Cultural through the Programme for the Internationalisation of Spanish Culture, this year  Fátima Miranda is taking part in the event, accompanied by Marc Egea (hurdy-gurdy) and Faustino Roson, unclassifiable musicians. The voice and the hurdy-gurdy are two nomadic instruments which, reinvented through the traditions of East and West, through different styles and ancestral traditions, transform all this heritage into something that is absolutely new and innovative, offering the spectator another flavour, another impression and, accordingly a new manner of listening, understanding and feeling. The vocal chords and strings of the hurdy-gurdy blend in various types of music, boleros and blues, in the various styles that range from Wales to Castile and from Azerbaijan to Japan.
