Gijón International Film Festival 2016

Gijón International Film Festival 2016

Gijón International Film Festival started out in 1963 as a competition for children and young people – a spirit which has remained alive over the years through the Enfants Terribles section. However, Gijón is also interested in innovation, as evidenced by sections such as FICXLab, DocuFICX, AnimaFICX and Convergencias, which complement the official section by showing the most significant independent films and seek to bring audiences films that are not released in commercial theatres.

The 54th edition of the festival is taking place from 19 to 26 November 2016. As in recent years, the schedule attaches particular importance to films for children and young people, activities to promote audiovisual literacy and an innovative and independent programme to attract the attention, and secure the recognition, of critics and public alike for another year.
