CONDITIONS
The call for three residences also extends the period available for stays that can be enjoyed from March 4 to December 18, 2022, except for the month of August. Within this period, applicants can propose stays of up to a maximum of three weeks, which must be enjoyed consecutively.
Special conditions have also been incorporated into the call for the presentation of applications linked to the translation of anthologies and collaborative works in which several authors or translators participate so that all or part of them can be residents.

This open call is aimed at three Spanish writers and their German translators of at least one of their works in the process of being published by a German publisher. The joint residence will take place in Madrid with a minimum duration of one week and a maximum of three for each of them (the residences of both do not have to have the same length).

The residency is organized by Acción Cultural Española and the Goethe-Institut Madrid with the aim of facilitating the creation of collaboration networks, promoting the dissemination of the works of Spanish creators or those residing in our country, enhancing the quality of their translations and strengthening the links between cultural institutions in Germany and Spain.

Call deadline: February 28, 2022

*In the case of requests related to works by various authors and/or translators:

-Several authors and translators may be residents who will be distributed, as they consider most appropriate for the project, the maximum three weeks of stay in the residence. In this case, it is not necessary that there be consecutive weeks.
-At least one author and one translator must meet in Madrid during the residency to work together on the translation.
-Regardless of the number of professionals participating in the residency or whether the stay is divided into several periods, the organizers will only finance a maximum of two round trips in Europe and another two in Spain.
-Those selected are not required to spend the night in the residence. No more than two can stay in it at the same time.
-The call includes €500 gross per week of stay for the author and €500 gross per week of stay for the translator, for maintenance, local transport and production. These maximum amounts per week are maintained in the case of applications in which more than one writer and/or one translator participate, so that residents will receive the proportional part corresponding to their days of stay. In the case of stays of less than one week, the amount will be prorated per day.
