AC/E is collaborating in this year’s festival through its PICE programme by supporting the presence of Spanish composer Abel Paúl, who is presenting his latest work.
Gaudeamus Muziekweek is an important festival that brings together young composers from all over the world in educational and working sessions. The festival offers participants the chance to present their work at a concert performed by well-known ensembles as well as on the radio, enabling these composers to take new and sometimes decisive steps forward in their career. Distinctions such as the Gaudeamus award and others contribute to making them known and to developing new possibilities of presenting their music. Since its beginnings in 1950, Gaudeamus Muziekweek has attracted composers from all over the world, as well as programmers and artistic directors from leading festivals. Spanish composers David del Puerto, Jesus Torres and Cesar Camarero have won prizes at this festival, as a result of which their works have featured in the programme on successive occasions.
