Gabriel Pericàs is the artist selected for the Gasworks Residency, supported by AC/E, aimed at artists in the early stages of their career based in Spain, and lasting 11 weeks fully funded at Gasworks (London) on 7 from April to June 23,
2025.
Gabriel Pericàs' interdisciplinary practice explores the social life of objects, materials and substances, with special attention to those that seem ambiguous in their form, use or meaning. Through interconnected approaches: long-term text-based research processes, sculpture, editorial experiments, he observes and explores the physical aspects of materials and the discursive devices we use to think about them.
At Gasworks, Gabriel will develop a new long-term project around lead, analyzing how its unexpected physical attributes (being extremely malleable for such a heavy metal) have contributed to its industrial and cultural exploitation. It will also investigate its toxicity and its interaction with human and non-human bodies.
Gasworks residencies allow for self-directed professional development, artistic exchange and experimentation.
