From Ecstasy to Rapture: 50 Years of Alternative Spanish Film

FROM ECSTASY TO RAPTURE. 50 years of alternative Spanish film is the brainchild of Xcentric, the regular film programme at the CCCB since 2001.

FROM ECSTASY TO RAPTURE. 50 years of alternative Spanish film takes to the foremost international museum and arts centres a selection of Spanish experimental films made between the 1950s and the present-day, with the screening of a programme of film and video and the publication of a catalogue in DVD and booklet format.

The cycle consists of a retrospective of experimental film produced in our country, ranging from the late 1950s (José Val del Omar, Joaquim Puigvert, Eugenio Granell) to the present-day output of young generations (David Domingo, Oriol Sánchez, Laida Lertxundi), taking in the work of Carles Santos, Javier Aguirre, Eugeni Bonet, José Antonio Sistiaga and Iván Zulueta.

With an across-the-board rather than a strictly chronological approach, the different sessions incite dialogue between classics and more recent works.

The film programme includes 43 titles in film (35 mm) and video (betacam) format and is divided into 6 sessions of approximately 70 minutes.
