FILMADRID International Film Festival was born with the determination to discover new paths in the landscape of contemporary cinematography, focusing on the promotion and exhibition of authorship in films. Participation in the contest is open to fiction and non-fiction movies from all over the world, with special interest in pieces of work which innovate in both narrative and formal approaches, regardless of production formats. FILMADRID is created by Pasajes de Cine, a cultural association from Madrid.
FILMADRID, Madrid’s international film festival, will bring a selection of international auteur films to the capital from 7 to 16 June, screening more than 60 from all over the world.
The Focos section, devoted to internationally renowned directors whose films are seldom shown in Madrid, will host retrospectives on Raquel Chalfi, the Afro -American films of Khalik Allah and the Italian Tonino de Bernardi. In addition, a total of 41 premieres will be screened in Spain, five of them world premieres. It also highlights "the special place" that the festival devotes to the South Korean filmmaker Hong Sang-soo when he opens and closes the event with two of his films, 'The day after' and 'Claire's Camera'.
