FIDOCS, the international documentary film festival of Santiago, is the main meeting place, means of dissemination and competition for documentaries in Chile and was founded in 1997 by the prominent Chilean documentarist Patricio Guzmán (who has directed films such as La Batalla de Chile, Salvador Allende, Nostalgia de la Luz and El botón de Nácar).
FIDOCS features three main competition sections (International Panorama, Latin American Competition, National Competition, and Monsieur Guillaume International Short Film Competition) in addition to other activities such as the FIDOCs school, FIDOCS masterclasses and FIDOCS Online.
Spanish director Hermes Paralluelo, who is taking part in this 19th edition with the support of AC/E, will present a focus of his film career, featuring 3 films:
- No todo es vigilia (2014), 98 min.
- Yatasto (2011), 95 min.
- Pan de azúcar (2008), 25 min.
In addition to being a jury member for one or two of the competition sections of the festival, he will teach a masterclass for guests and general public (including professionals, cinema students and journalists) and a public lecture on his documentary experience.
