Festival International de la Bande Dessinée 2014

Festival International de la Bande Dessinée 2014

The Angouleme  International Comics Festival – Festival International de la Bande Dessinée – is  one of the most important events for European graphic artists. Taking part in it is an excellent opportunity to attract the attention of foreign publishers.

AC/E, through the second edition of its mobility programme, is collaborating with two publishers to promote and internationalise the work of Spanish creators.

Firstly with Editions Rackham, by inviting  Álvaro Ortiz and David Rubínto take part in the festival’s “Nouveau Monde” section. In addition to organising meetings and dedications for readers, the publishing company schedules meetings between artists, booksellers, journalists and critics, inviting the two Spanish artists to present their work and future projects to different professionals in order to help provide greater information on the artistic value of contemporary Spanish comics.

Secondly, with Editorial Dargaud,by supporting the participation of Jordi Lafebreand José Luis Munuera with their respective projects La Mondaine (by Jordi Lafebre and Zidrou), and the black and white version of Sortilèges (by José Luis Munuera and Jean Dufaux).

Editions Rackham is a small French publishing house with a fairly small output which in France has published comics by artists such as Frank Miller(they are the publishers of the best-selling Sin City and300 in France), Joe Sacco(Palestine, Gorazde), Daniel Clowes(Caricature, Pussey!) and Breccia(Dracula, The Myths of Cthulhu). It has been publishing comics since 1989 and stands out as the French firm which has published the work of the young generation of renowned Spanish artists like Paco Roca, David Rubín, Javier de Isusiand Álvaro Ortiz in France in recent years.
