For the past five years various venues in the city of Córdoba, Argentina, have hosted the annual international poetry festival during the month of March. It is organised by three of the city’s publishing companies, Recovecos, Viento de fondo and Caballo negro, and has established a reputation as one of the most important poetry events held in Argentina. It is widely acknowledged in the Southern Cone countries as a poetry festival that attracts a large South American audience to the many events organised by the more than 40 publishers who take part.
The festival’s activities are free, as its aim is to offer audiences of Córdoba’s districts events of a very high artistic standard with the participation of professionals who are committed to ensuring that poetry ceases to be an elitist literary genre. Leading international poets take part every year – on this occasion Spanish poet Gonzalo Hermo González with the support of AC/E, who will read his poems and take part in a translators’ meeting.
