Festival Internacional de Música Sacra de Bogotá 2015

Festival Internacional de Música Sacra de Bogotá 2015

Bogotá sacred music festival is a multicultural event that is unique in Ibero-America and aims to disseminate and strengthen the various cultural traditions through sacred music from around the world. It promotes dialogue and the diversity of cultures and creeds, recognition of the value of spirituality, respect and friendship, developing a culture of peace and social integration.

The concert held with the support of AC/E will help make known the polyphonic compositions of Gutiérrez Fernández Hidalgo, the first Spanish composer to become established in South America whose works were part of the repertoire of several churches and cathedrals such as those of Bogotá, Quito, Lima, Cuzco and Sucre. It likewise returns to the system of performances used in churches and cathedrals, following a strict tempo in the polyphony and using instruments taken from the tradition of minstrels. The research was carried out by maestro Egberto Bermúdez, a Colombian musicologist who is in charge of the Master’s degree course in Musicology at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and is a member of the festival’s artistic committee. Two Spanish groups have been chosen for this project: Capella Prolationum and Ensemble La Danserye, directed by Fernando Pérez Valera.
Bogotá sacred music festival took part in the recent edition of Expoclásica in Madrid as a Visitor through the grants awarded under AC/E’s internationalisation programme.
