The Madrid film festival FCM-PNR was started up in 1991 and since then has stablished a reputation as an essential showcase for emerging productions, which it supports and promotes by bringing together a broad selection of non-commercial Spanish films. Indeed, since 2011, as part of its commitment to support talented young filmmakers, it has been paying participants selected to take part in the competition sections of feature-length and short films in order to support Spain’s film production, distribution and screening industry as far as possible.
AC/E is collaborating with this 24th edition by supporting the participation of international planners and critics so that they gain first-hand knowledge of the situation of the Spanish film industry as presented at the festival.
With a focus on the work of new filmmakers, FCM-PNR is a meeting place in constant pursuit of new stories and creators in need of a springboard. Its selection of short films is included on the shortlist of candidates in the Best Fiction Short category of the Spanish film academy Goya awards; specifically, three FCM-PNR prize winners will have the possibility of competing for a Goya.
The festival is organised by Plataforma Nuevos Realizadores (PNR), a non-profit association founded in 1989 by directors, producers and technicians of short and feature-length films. For the past 25 years it has been devoted to showing and disseminating its members’ work, liaising with the general public, and representing, defending and achieving recognition for the films of up-and-coming directors.
The 24th FCM-PNR will take place from 16 to 25 October in nine venues of the Madrid region, whose programmes will be geared to all audiences and are free of charge (except Cine Doré). It will also feature meetings with these directors at various venues: Corneliu Porumboiu at the Instituto Cultural Rumano, and Carolina Campo Lupo and Fernando Molnar at La Central in Callao.
