Festival Sinodal at Aguilafuente 2023

Festival Sinodal at Aguilafuente 2023

The Medieval Synodal Festival is held annually on the first weekend of August in the Segovian town of Aguilafuente to commemorate the publication of the first printed book in Spain in the year 1472. The Synodal is the minute book of the Synod that was held for ten days of the month of June, in the Church of Santa María de Aguilafuente in the year 1472, presided over by the Bishop of Segovia Don Juan Arias Dávila. The Segovian prelate, imbued with the humanist spirit of the Renaissance, commissioned the printing of these acts to the German printer Juan Párix, thus giving birth to the first book printed in Spain.

The activities scheduled on these days (from August 4 to 6, 2023) are structured around theatrical performances, exhibitions, medieval dances, conferences, academic activities, concerts, guided tours, entertainment shows and children's games, among others. Being all important, the backbone of the annual celebration is the theater, which has local actors directed by professionals.

AC/E collaborates with the Aguilafuente Sinodal Cultural Association in organizing the 2023 edition of the Sinodal Festival, which once again rigorously disseminates our history and heritage, the demographic challenge and the dissemination and promotion of the performing arts, among others.
