This year marks the 11th edition of the Festival between June 6 and 18, 2019 in Athens and Thessaloniki, and from 16 to 18 on the islands of Lefkada and Crete. In the program there are -among other activities- painting and photography exhibitions, storytelling functions, literature workshops, literary translation, dramaturgy, music and gastronomy, musical and poetry evenings, tributes to writers, book presentations and talks with guest writers .
The eleventh edition of the LEA Festival has the participation of Spaniards who have been recently translated into Greek as Kirmen Uribe and Andrés Barba and with poets such as José Saborit and Lola Mascarell whose poems have been awarded and collected in different anthologies. Similarly, this year invites the poet Juan Vicente Piqueras, who will present his book "Father" recently translated into Greek, and is also the director of the evening of poetry of LEA. The LEA Festival is the only Ibero-American Hellenic event that brings together more than 13 nations around literature, music, art, film and theater. Every year the Spanish participation is essential due to its cultural richness and influence in Greece in the previously mentioned areas.
The LEA Festival was born in 2008 to warn of the need to create strategies on a large scale in order to promote intercultural dialogue between Ibero-American countries and the Hellenic Republic and to foster a taste for literature and the arts from those countries in Greece .
