Lleida Puppet Fair is an annual event that brings together more than thirty puppet companies and more than 300 certified professionals, planners (national and international) and theatre lovers of all ages. It features more than eighty performances in theatres, squares and streets, in addition to a large number of parallel activities that complement the offering and are scheduled for the first week of May. It is organised by the town council and the Centro de Títeres in Lleida and its purpose is to become a market platform for puppet professionals, to disseminate the art and above all to ensure that audiences enjoy themselves as much as possible.
For the seventh year running, the fair is being held in a space devoted solely to this profession – a place for meetings and business for sector professionals. At Espacio Pro, planners and companies can exchange impressions and negotiate jointly in a space that is designed to facilitate buying and selling shows and interrelationships between artists, creators and planners and, at the same time, encourages debate on the art of puppetry. It also organises meetings with sector professionals. AC/E is collaborating with the fair by supporting the presence of prominent foreign festival planners Anne Françoise Cabanis (Fest Mondial Théâtre Marionette de Charleville), Detlef Kölher Stücke (Starke Stüecke), Vera Stoykova (International Puppet Festival The Golden Dolphin), Zelis Niegaard (Danmarks Internationale Gadeteaterfestival), Tony Reekie (Imaginate Festival), Petra Blok (Tweetakt), Cristina Cazzola (Segni d'Infanza), Laura Graser (CarréRotondes), Lucyna Kozien (International Festival of Puppetry Art) and Anna Ingleby (Beverley Puppet Festival).
