Buenos Aires international book fair (FILBA) is one of the most important cultural events in South America and attracts a huge following from all over the region, but especially young people. For 20 days it hosts more than a thousand activities and has a million visitors who seek to reaffirm the role of books in Spanish in the world publishing industry. This year’s guest city is Santiago de Compostela.
AC/E is collaborating with FILBA for the first time through the Mobility grants, which will enable José Manuel Lucía Megías to take part in several activities staged as a tribute to Cervantes and Shakespeare in order to explore in depth the two geniuses’ influence in contemporary literature. Gemma Lluch is taking part in the activities carried out in connection with the promotion of reading and the book industry, and Andrés Neuman is participating in the joint reflections on literature and its limits and boundaries. The FILBO poetry festival, which this year revolves around the figure of Borges, will feature the poet Vicente Cervera and Magdalena Labarga in the oral storytelling session. Lastly, Isidro Ferrer will attend the prestigious illustrators’ sessions, where professionals from all over the world take part in creative exchanges on the role of illustration in the world of books.
