The Felicia Blumental International Festival plays an important role in Israel's music programming. Its musical activities during the festival week combine chamber music, orchestral and vocal, as well as films and Folk music. With the collaboration of AC/E through the programme of internationalization of Spanish culture, the group La Ritirata, directed by Josetxu Obregón, is programmed to commemorate the fourth centenary of the death of Miguel de Cervantes.
They will perform the concert "Don Quixote Goes to Viena", with 9 players and 3 soloist singers, at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. The programme is based on music composed by Antonio Caldara (1670-1736), inspired by "El ingenioso hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha". The concert is a musical route through the operas by "Don Chisciotte della Corte in duchessa" and "Sancio Pansa Governatore dell'Isola Barattaria" by Antonio Caldara. Josetxu Obregón (also a cellist, like Caldara) has selected a series of arias inspired by Cervantes' timeless masterpiece.
