Falla and Flamenco

Falla and Flamenco

AC/E, through the mobility awards of the PICE, is collaborating in the production of El Amor Brujoby Manuel de Falla, which is being performed in New York by Postclassical Ensemble(PCE), a Washington-based orchestra and experimental musical laboratory whose musical director and artistic director are Angel Gil-Ordoñez and Joseph Horowitz. PCE is collaborating with other orchestras in the United States to disseminate its productions, on this occasion with Perspectives Ensemble of New York.

This production links flamenco singing with the poetry of García Lorca and the music of Manuel de Falla. As is customary at Postclassical Ensemble’s presentations, it includes chats and discussions before and afterwards. Three performances of the new production will be staged as part of New York Flamenco Festival. These performances are likewise connected with the residency run by Perspectives Ensemble (with Ángel Gil-Ordóñez as principal guest director) at the Foundation for Iberian Music of the City University of New York (CUNY).
