Fabulamundi. Playwriting Europe

Fabulamundi. Playwriting Europeis a project designed to create a common territory that provides a building block for playwriting in Europe, by encouraging a critical discussion on contemporary theatre writing through a platform that brings together and fosters exchange between national playwriting and various types of staging, making it possible to establish differences and points of contact.

At the first event, held in 2012, the countries that took part in the network of exchange between Italian authors and texts were Spain, Germany and Romania. The activities for 2013-2104 revolve around 5 countries -  Italy, Spain, Romania, Germany and France – with a varied programme of stagings, master classes in writing and text analysis, meetings between authors and audiences. The authors are travelling companions on this journey beyond the boundaries of their own texts, which are read and performed on foreign stages, creating encounters with the artists and audiences of the host country.

In addition, an archive, which can be consulted online, is being compiled on contemporary playwriting in the five countries. Translating and sharing the texts was the first step in starting up a reciprocal process of deepening knowledge among the European countries taking part in this project.

AC/E is supporting the participation in the project of six contemporary Spanish authors – Lola Blasco, Jaime Salazar, Antonio Fernandez Lera, Esteve Soler, Pablo Gisbert and Óscar Gómez Mata – by fostering the translation and reading of plays in different European venues.
